Mechwarrior 2

This is a Mechwarrior like game for the TI 85. It requires two pictures that you will have to draw. It also requires 9,100 bites free.

Mechwarrior 2 was created by Josh Lomas at I.H. Kempner Sr. High School.

Below are some instructions on how to operate the game !

Section 1-1 Are you dumb or somethin' ?

To begin, press "prgm", the third button on the
fourth row of your calculator . Select the program called "Mechwarr".

Section 2-1 For Starters.

Mechwarrior will display it's title-screen; press enter. This is one of the pictures you will have to draw. The name of the picture is TITLE. The picture should include the name Mechwarrior and the names "Josh Lomas" and "Matthew Obets". The game will begin with a difficulty level prompt asking you to provide yourself with a challenge. Please be careful , I programmed it to be a pain ! The higher the number, the higher the opponent's armor level. Select a number and press enter.

Section 2-2 Start - up.

Mechwarrior will now ask you to enter an ignition code will only
accept the proper code ( described in section 4-1 ) . The Program now will
bring up a cockpit drawing ( press F5 ) . This is the other picture you must draw. It is the picture of the cross hairs and the inside of the cockpit. Its name is aMECHPIT. You will need to substitute the greek "a" symbol for the "a" in "aMECHPIT". From the center of the screen a line will emerge outward showing which direction to turn by using the arrow keys.

Section 2-3 Graphics Explanation

Along the right side, vertically, is another line showing distance
between you and your opponent. And along the left side of the screen,
vertically, another line will begin to rise when you activate throttle
( described in section 2-4 ) .

Section 2-4 Throttle Control.

The throttle is fairly simple to operate. The eight "8" button is
what moves you forward; the more you press it the faster you move forward . The number two "2" button is what moves you backward; same principle as the forward movement. The number five "5" key is an emergency stop button, it will stop your mech no matter what your current speed is.

Section 2-5 Shutting Down The Mech.

To shutdown all mech activity press the "2nd" key located on the second row, first key . A menu will appear ( press F1 ) then a prompt will appear type in "911" and then press enter . The screen will then read out "shutting down !" and prompt you again. To resume gaming press F5 and the game will again be playable .

Section 3-1 The Serious Facts !

The "Enter" button will store a picture called "clips" in the graph mode. If you are in any danger such as the other mech is blowing you to shreds; press "2nd" and F3 to eject, you will lose the mission. To exit the game press "2nd" to bring up the menu and then press F4 to exit . So ya think yer ready to tear down an opponent huh? Well you gotta shoot right? The "Alpha" key ( can't find it? It's blue. ) fires your current weapon; a twin laser cannon.

Section 3-1a Targeting.

Targeting may be a question that's just churning away in your head right now. "How do I shoot a wire frame image ?",you say . Simple! ; through snapping the fixed graph assembly to a self-terminating matrix we were able to have a 3-D feature giving the sense of depth and distance. The parts of the mech are Left Arm, Right Arm, Torso, Left Leg, and the Right Leg. Each of these parts is allocated on the matrix by initiating a targeted vicinity around the body part. When a shot is fired anywhere within a certain distance of the body part it registers as a hit on that particular piece. When the allocated armor factor is diminished it will then be seen without that part.

Section 4-1 The Codes:

		Ignition code..........................1E36
		Shut Down Sequence...........911
		Ejection Sequence................1.25

Thanks for participating in the Mechwarrior Legacy first made by the FASA corporation, Activision, and BattleTech. I don't mean to disappoint you, but I don't work for any of these companies! In fact I'm just a sophomore at Kempner High School in Sugar Land this '96-'97 school year. My name if you don't know it already is Josh Lomas. I'm a published artist living here in Sugar Land, Texas. I'm also planning to work for a computer programming company or even become an architect or electrical engineer in the future once out of college. Matt Obets is a junior at Kempner High and is planning to finish high school and go directly to college. "Do not pass go, do not collect $ 200", I said to him.
We (Matt Obets and I) first began to program this game back in March of '96 while riding home on a school bus after a grueling day at our desks. Personally, I didn't give a flying *#@& what the girls sitting behind us were thinking about while Obets and I were sketching and programming the time away. Frankly, I'm sure they thought we were total dorks. I suppose I'd think someone was a dork too if they were talking in nothing but letters, numbers, and strange mathematical terms. However, after about 3 months the first running proto-type was active.
The first public edition is being issued and we hope you'll enjoy it! Keep in touch with us and T.I. for the next release of Mechwarrior 2, featuring a new assortment of artillery! You can E-mail us at grego@iapc.net or snail-mail us at 413 W.Hillary Cir. Sugar Land,Tx. 77478-3067.

P.S.: Thanks for expressing your interest in Mechwarrior as well as Texas Instruments.
												     Sincerely,
				Josh Lomas & Matt Obets
