| Puzzler v2.2 by Brian Hill (bhill@qm.choate.edu).
| Version 1 created December 1993-March 1993. Version 2 created June
| 1994-September, 1994. Version 2.2 finished, Feb 1995.
It has taken me nearly a year and a half to create one of the best games for
the TI-82. Starting with version 1, I slowly added better graphics, the
ability
to delete lines, and piece rotation. Finally, I have a program that can
stand
up to the original and give it a fair fight. Yes, this is definately in list
of top
ten programs that are a MUST HAVE for the TI-82.

To play, choose the program PUZZLER2. The title page appears, and you
will be asked for the speed you want to play at. 0 is very fast, so I would
recomend choosing a slower speed the first few times you play, say around
70. Once you get a little experience with the peices and the keys, then try
the higher speeds.

You begin with a blank playing space. The only way to win this game is to
get the space blank again by completing lines across the screen so that they
are deleted. Each time a line is deleted, the pieces above the line move
down
to create more space. There are 7 peices that fall down (one at a time, of
course) in a random order. To move the piece to the left or right, press the
left or right button. To rotate a piece clockwise, press the down button.
 And
to rotate the piece counter-clockwise, press the up button. Unlike all other
Tetris like games for TI calculators that I have seen, this one rotates the
pieces
into FOUR different positions. If you want to pause the game, all you have
to
do is press CLEAR. The controls are very simple, so you can concentrate more
on playing the game.

One of the problems that version 2.2 fixes, is that sometimes if you do not
have
enough memory, the program would quit in the middle of a game. Although I
cannot do anything about that error, with version 2.2 if that happens, just
restart
the program and type in C when prompted for the speed (C stands for Continue
Mode). Then you will be promted for the speed again, and input the speed you
want to play at. Then the game will continue from where you were when it was
quit.

If you want even more games, subscribe to our newsletter, the Programmer's
Guide
for the TI-82/85 (and soon the 92). It features more games by me (the Senior
Editor) and David
Smith (the Publisher) and other people who send their games to us to be
published.
We also review a few math programs each issue, and give you the
listings(!!!!!!!!!!)
for ALL of the programs we review. If you want to Subscribe or want a free
